Have you set your goals for 2020? If not, I encourage you to schedule yourself some time to not only visualise your goals for the year, but to work on a plan to help you make your dreams a reality.
Whether you’re unsure where to start, or need somewhere to track your thoughts, you can DOWNLOAD MY FREE 2020 PLANNER. Use it to record your progress, wins, challenges and learnings.
START PLANNING. SET DEADLINES. STAY ACCOUNTABLE.
The best place to start is where you are currently at…
Visualize your destination, then reverse engineer how you got there in 6 month, 3 month, 1 month, 1 week and daily milestones. This gives you more control over your progress and the ability to make changes to increase leads or cash flow. There is not much you can do if, at the end of the month, you’ve lost $3000 for example, BUT if you know how you are traveling half way through the month you can give yourself the opportunity to increase your marketing, advertising or promotions to generate turnover, and put you back on the optimal path to achieve your short and long term goals.
Keep yourself accountable by always attaching firm deadlines. When setting your deadlines, be realistic but also consider the external factors that may contribute to you not delivering on your timeline, and plan for them. Life, relationships, and family will always throw you curveballs. Accept there will be challenges on your journey but they are simply speed bumps – not the end of the road.
YOUR GOALS CAN BE AS BIG OR AS SMALL AS YOU WANT THEM TO BE
One of my main goals this year is to push myself creatively, to shoot for myself more, and to capture everything in-camera.
Earlier this week, I set myself a large creative and technical challenge. I identified my usual excuses so I could be aware of those if they arose, and I scheduled a time to achieve it.
Having identified beforehand that I often talk myself out of my big ideas, I was able to avoid letting that feeling take hold this time. This type of analysis and self-awareness can be hugely beneficial when trying to overcome our obstacles and achieve a goal. As a result, I had a new sense of determination to try something different, and I learned a lot along the way, through my trouble-shooting as well as trial and error.
It’s amazing what we can achieve when we commit to pushing ourselves outside our comfort zone, and planning out the steps to get there, whether you rigorously stick to your plan or decide to choose an alternate route along the journey.
