Moving on from the Back Pose my next go to pose is the Side Pose. It’s so easy to transition the baby from the Back Pose into Side Pose by gently turning the newborn baby from their back to side. What I love the most about this pose is how comfortable the baby looks and how simple it is to create beautiful, timeless images.
Here are my top tips for achieving this classic pose that your clients will simply love.
WATCH AND REPOSITION
Watch the light fall across the baby, as you move your light source or reposition the posing bag or prop. Here the light is falling gently across the baby’s face on a 45 deg angle. The baby’s head is positioned towards the light.
FABRIC
To create a smooth background, use stretchy fabrics which you can pull tight and clamp to your backdrop stand.
POSING
To make the hands sit nice and flat, push the baby’s thumb out from under the palm.
