If you’re anything like us here in the studio, new product announcements from Adobe create a lot of excitement! The Adobe MAX 2018 keynote truly shows their commitment to embracing the future of technology, particularly with innovations in virtual and augmented reality. You can watch the full keynote (2hr 41min) on YouTube.
If you’re a Creative Cloud subscriber you can upgrade to Photoshop CC 2019 now. Some of our favourite features so far include live Blend Mode previews (see our animation) and the revised Undo method. Stepping back through your history has now been simplified to just Cmd (Mac) or Ctrl (Windows) + Z.
BEFORE YOU UPGRADE
When installing a new version of Adobe software, we like to keep our current version until we’ve tested for a period and we STRONGLY recommend you do too. This will save any headaches should you have compatibility issues or in the event of their being a few too many bugs with newly released software.
- Open the Creative Cloud app on your computer
- Click Update on the software you wish to install
- UNTICK Remove Old Versions under Advanced Options to keep your existing version/s
- Click Update
You can (should) do this for every Adobe product you use.
Note, we uninstall the old version later, using the CC app to ensure it’s removed properly.
KNOWN ISSUES
We are aware of a few graphics issues with Photoshop CC 2019 and have found that this tip is a successful solution for many users:
In Photoshop CC 2019, go to Photoshop > Preferences > Performance and tick ‘Legacy Compositing’.
