When working with older babies, definitely have a plan BUT also prepare to be flexible & adapt. Babies change a LOT once they hit that 1 to 2 month mark and older.
We can’t expect them to endure a long session like we would a “fresh” newborn, so we need to be organised with our equipment and styling needs, along with a workflow plan. But at the same time, we must be prepared to adapt to baby’s cues, with Plan B.. and sometimes a C.. or D! This is normal. Stay relaxed and follow the baby’s cues.
As babies grow you’ll start to get lovely eye contact, but they’ll also be distracted and observant about other things in your space. So you’ll need to be ready to shoot quickly to grab the shots in the moments you retain their attention.
